Imagine this – sitting by a stream on your own, just taking in the sounds and having nowhere to go, and nothing to do. Having time to just be you and to notice your responses to this soothing surrounding.
How often do you give yourself space like this? It can be really hard to create some time for yourself in a busy world were so many people need something from you. Responsibilities fill your hours, and before you know it, the day is done. You promise yourself that you’ll try again tomorrow, but it can be hard not to think of this time as a luxury, and wonder if you are worth that extra effort.
Despite those voices, telling you to just keep going, it is really important to find this space. In finding a patch of slow time for ourself, we can discover, what we really need, our true opinions, and what feels right to us. We cannot refresh ourselves in a fast-paced world, we need that space to let out that long-held breath, feeling the relief from tired muscles that have been keeping it all together.
We cannot expect a lavender plant to grow strong and healthy when it’s surround by space-sucking mint, circling with its invasive roots, as it suffocates and mutes it’s soothing and healing scent. So why would you expect that of yourself?
Having ‘a space for myself’ is one of the most common feedback items I get from people about what The Soothing Season workshops mean to them, and sometimes it’s only in finally getting this space, that they realise how important it is to them. In doing this you can let some of the pressure of your life drop away, feel lighter and clearer headed. Your shoulders drop and your heartbeat slows to a soothing rhythm. In this gentle space your emotions may stir as you give yourself this long-awaited gift.
